Overview
Summary
The course of International Security looks to address the current security problems of our world, our region and our country from a theoretical perspective, giving the students the analytical tools necessary to assess the complexity of security problems. To that end, it is organised in four sections, including a first theoretical section that covers the evolution of the field of International Security Studies; a second section that deals the traditional security studies agenda; a third section that analyses the emergent security agenda, including the human security dimension; and a fourth section that looks those issues from a regional and national perspective.
While the main approach of the course is theoretical, it combines that knowledge with its use to analyse empirical cases through practices, forums and groups assignments, looking to apply the acquired concepts to our current scenario.
