  • Overview

    The course examines the principal socio-political and cultural transformations in Peruvian history since the Independence to current days. It will emphasize in the political history of Peru, the construction of the Peruvian state and the transformations associated to the social and cultural diversity of Peru in this process. Therefore, the course will explore issues such as national identity, the formation of the state, the relation between the Andean and the Amazonian population with the Peruvian state, the European and Asian immigration, among others. These social and cultural processes will be analyzed from a historical perspective.
