  • Overview

    This unit provides an introduction to some of the complexities of the fashion system and is intended to provide a base for students who wish to pursue further studies in fashion.
    Learning Outcomes
    On completion of this unit you should be able to:
    1. Recognise key trends in contemporary fashion.
    2. Research fashion across a wide range of resources.
    3. Present research findings in appropriate academic and industry formats, both in written and oral modes.
    Approaches to Teaching and Learning
    Lectures introduce new knowledge and key theoretical concepts; tutorials / seminars offer students opportunity to develop skills in public discussion, giving and receiving peer feedback and critical thinking. Research tasks allow students to explore introductory fashion communication skills across a wide range of media.
