Overview
Design processes and creative thinking are at the core of interactive and visual design disciplines. This unit is an introduction to conceptual and practical methods of idea generation and development with an emphasis on creating innovative interactive and visual design for a variety of contexts. Through the combination of lectures, studios, and design charrettes, you will learn theoretical underpinnings of creative thinking and design processes; and cultivate fluency and flexibility in applying the theories into practice to produce original design solutions both individually and collaboratively.
Learning OutcomesBy the completion of this unit you should be able to :1. understand the concepts of design thinking, creativity, design processes and their impacts (1-1)2. collaborate in creative group work to solve design problems exploring multiple design approaches (2-3)3. reflect upon your creative process and yourself as a design practitioner (3-3)4. communicate design solutions through written, oral, and visual expressions, using specific academic and professional design standards, taking into account audience, purpose, and intercultural context (2-5)5. locate, evaluate, and synthesise information from a variety of sources into your design work (2-1)
