OverviewThis unit introduces students to the fundamentals principles of music and sound production through a mix of theory and practice. Students gain an understanding of sound recording, sound production and live sound reinforcement and develop listening skills essential for music and sound production.Learning OutcomesOn completion of this unit you should be able to:1. Apply fundamental principles of acoustics and acoustic technology in music and sound creation, production and presentation.2. Appraise musical repertoire, music styles and modes of production and evaluate and critique music works.3. Record sound using common audio technology and a variety of microphone techniques.4. Accurately document and effectively communicate details of the production process.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
