OverviewThis course develops creative, critical and analytical skills in reading and writing a variety of creative textual forms. You acquire an understanding and some practice in crafting various forms of poetry and short fiction.Learning OutcomesOn completion of this unit you should be able to:1. Analyse and critically engage with short stories and poetry, and construct a short creative work based on a developing understanding of creative writing theory and practice.2. Explain contemporary and historical critical and creative writing theories and their relation to writing.3. Identify conceptual and practical links between historical and contemporary creative writing strategies and a range of literary works, including your own work.4. Critically review contemporary and innovative literary forms, and critically analyse a creative work with regard to both its content and form.
