As a student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) you will enjoy a real world, hands on approach to learning on an innovative campus located in the heart of Brisbane. If the ocean is calling your name, use your student discount to hop on the train and be on the beautiful white sand beaches of the Gold Coast within 90 minutes.
At QUT you can take courses across numerous disciplines including Business, Exercise Science, Engineering, Creative Industries (Fashion, Dance, Film and Screen, Interior Design), and so many more. Courses are instructed in English by QUT's internationally recognized and award-winning faculty. You will enroll alongside local, Australian students as well as fellow international students from around the globe. Your ISA program will begin with an exciting 5-day Bridging Cultures Orientation Program in the northern, tropical city of Cairns - click on excursions to learn more.
Semester + Semester Programs Available: You may participate in the Spring + Fall OR the Fall + Spring sessions of this program by selecting your two semesters of interest when submitting the initial ISA online application. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

- Course Structure
Classes are lecture style with seminar (small group) sessions following the lecture. Focus is on individual study.
- Course Credit
Per QUT's recommendation, 12 credit points = 3-4 U.S. semester credits (4-6 U.S. quarter credits). The final decision regarding credit transfer is determined by your home university.
- Course Load
Please note this program is 3 courses, which is considered full time status at QUT; however, your U.S. university will determine whether this meets full time student status as your U.S. university defines it.

- COURSE LEVEL RECOMMENDATIONS
ISA offers course level recommendations for the courses listed below. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on Queensland University of Technology (QUT) unit (course) codes. All QUT unit codes consist of a three-letter abbreviation, followed by three numerals. The first two letters indicate the faculty or school administering the unit. The third letter indicates the level of the course in which the unit is normally taught, (students should look for letter B, indicating that the unit is part of an undergraduate degree). The first digit of the unit code numeral indicates the year of the level that the course is taught. A code numeral that starts with the number1 is appropriate for students in their first year of studies, 2 second year, and 3 third year. Units designed for the second and third year of undergraduate degree studies are recommended as upper division. These ISA recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisors and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.

As an ISA participant, you have the opportunity to apply for scholarships and grants that can be applied directly to assist with your study abroad programs. As a resident in ISA housing you will have the opportunity to experience aspects of the Australian lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor to Brisbane. Step out your door to explore not only your campus, but also the unique neighborhoods, local markets, and city happenings that will have you feeling right at home in no time. With an open and adaptable mind, the experience of living in another culture can be highly rewarding.
Housing is provided on all ISA programs in Australia at an additional cost. Apartment accommodation starts at $6,775 (estimated and subject to change). We strive to match your housing preferences with our available accommodation; however, housing preference requests cannot be guaranteed.
Apartment Without Meals
Apartment living in Brisbane places you at the doorstep of city happenings within the lively neighborhood of South Bank while still being conveniently located a 15-20 minute walk from the QUT campus. Rooms are twin share (same gender) with ensuite bathroom in a 16 person, co-ed flat OR single with ensuite bathroom in a 5 person, co-ed flat. Kitchen and living room spaces are shared between flat-mates. Flats are comprised of international students as well as local students attending various universities in Brisbane. Linens, kitchenware, and an Internet package are included; however, meals are not included.
You may opt to secure housing independently. If you select this option will be responsible for your own housing during the program and will forgo any ISA assistance for housing matters.

ISA excursions present you with the opportunity to experience the diverse, Indigenous culture and inspiring landscapes of southwest Queensland. As a student studying in Brisbane, you will begin your semester with an exciting Bridging Cultures Program in Cairns and will have the chance to attend one day trip and several cultural activities throughout the semester.
Cairns + Bridging Cultures Program
From scuba diving to chilling with koalas, ISA’s exclusive Orientation Excursion is one exciting and educational introduction to the land down under. Taking place in the northern city of Cairns, famous for its tropical atmosphere and access to the Great Barrier Reef, the Australia Orientation is designed to set you up for a successful experience abroad by acquainting you with the local culture, allowing time to get to know your soon-to-be-friends and having a memorable journey in the process. Our in-country staff will be there to personally guide you through orientation sessions and all the unique activities – including snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef and exploring the ancient Daintree Rainforest – planned for the week, all you have to do is show up ready for an adventure!
North Stradbroke Island
Enjoy a getaway to "Straddie," the world's second largest sand island, and a favorite destination among locals. Soak up the sub-tropical climate and experience one of many unique recreational, historical, and cultural activities that the island provides, including sand-boarding, kayaking, and learning about the distinctive culture of the Quandamooka people. Most importantly, savor the beauty and slow-paced lifestyle of this local gem.

The ISA on-site team encourages you to explore the city and culture of Brisbane. The team facilitates this by offering a robust calendar of events that showcases what makes Brisbane special.
These activities vary each term, and previous offerings have included a visit to the Eat Street Markets, a stop by the Queensland Cultural Centre, a day trip to the Gold Coast Hinterlands, attending a local rugby game, and a visit to the Brisbane Night Sky Observatory.
