Overview
Introduction
This subject is designed to teach students a multi-component framework for understanding the experiences and needs of clients who are facing the demands of physical, emotional and/or behavioural disturbances. The focus of the subject will be on training students to identify and account for possible contributors to client abnormality and illness.Learning Objectives1. To identify and evaluate biopsychosocial models used to conceptualise key issues in client wellbeing during completion of group based problem-focused exercises.2. To learn practical techniques for contributing to the biopsychosocial treatment of clients experiencing physical difficulties and resulting mental distress.3. To identify the basic behaviours required for ethical conduct in the work environment.4. To develop effective expressive, receptive and written communication skills as these apply to the Counselling and Behaviour Management environments.
