  • Overview

This subject aims to introduce students to issues in sexuality, through the lens of the silver screen. The scope of sexuality is examined, through the historical and contemporary movies, across varying genres, to learn about our changing sexual attitudes, behaviours and values. The power of film, as a medium to express our sexuality and notion of relationships is explored. Students analyse films that both create and reflect our changing mores and codes about sex. Students should gain an understanding of how sexuality issues shape society, and how their depiction on film can create a deep, and sometimes lasting, influence on us.
