OverviewThe unit provides a foundational overview of the theoretical perspectives that have contributed to the history and philosophy of early childhood education. It examines philosophies, theories and theorists over time that have helped shape our views of children and children?s learning. Students learn about social and political changes and their impact on curriculum and early childhood provisions in Australia today. Students recognise the importance of philosophy in early childhood education and care as they read research and engage with philosophical ideas.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
