Texts include short stories, essays, novels, plays, poems, lyrics and other popular genres. Issues of culture and identity are discussed, with reference to the problematic nature of English as a literary lingua franca or 'common tongue' for the region. Is it empowering or colonising, unifying or divisive - or both.
