    Syllabus

    PURPOSE
    This module focuses on basic listening and speaking skills with the emphasis on introducing the students to basic vocabulary that will enable them to construct short sentences in specific situations.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES
    Listening skills: The students will carry out basic instructions and listen to very short texts.
    Speaking skills: The students will be introduced to basic vocabulary so that they can participate in short conversations in class and use the words in the context of everyday situations.

    CORE CONTENT

    • Vowels and consonants.
    • Greetings and introductions.
    • Counting, days of the week, times of the day, months of the year, seasons of the year.
    • Colours and items of clothing.
    • Simple verbs and construction of simple sentences.
