    Syllabus

    PURPOSE
    This module will enable students to gain understanding of the phenomenon of crime; the underlying factors (causation) that contribute to crime; as well as gaining insight into a holistic approach for working with offenders as well as the victims of crime.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES
    The outcomes to which this module is directed are as follows:

    • Learners will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the social phenomenon of crime in society;
    • Learners will increase their understanding of the relevant policy, within the African context, regarding crime and its prevention;
    • Learners will increase knowledge and skill for intervention with both the perpetrators and the victims of crime.
