Syllabus
PURPOSE
This module will equip students with Economic knowledge that will enable them to participate in, contribute to, adapt to and survive in a complex society. It will enable them to demonstrate a critical awareness of the benefits of responsible and sensitive resource exploitation.LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Acquire an advanced economics vocabulary that will allow them to debate and communicate the essentials of the subject.
- Apply the principles that underlie the basic economic processes and practices in a responsible and accountable manner.
- Explore a variety of methods and strategies to analyse and explain the dynamics of markets.
- Collect, analyze and interpret production, consumption and exchange data as well as other information in order to make informed decisions.
- Understand human rights concerns and reflect on poverty alleviation and the process of creating wealth.
- Analyze and assess the impact of local and global institutions on the South African economy.
