Overview
PURPOSE
This module will provide students with an overview and basic understanding of the role of conflict in society, the most important scholarly approaches and theories, and a general overview of the negotiation process.LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion of this module, the student will:
-view conflict from a new perspective on its social utility;
-be familiar with the various scholarly explanations of social conflict;
-be familiar with the different types of conflict that operate in society;
-have an understanding of the various manifestations of conflict in political context, and the specific strategies commonly used to combat these;
-be familiar with the variety of conflict management strategies available;
-demonstrate an understanding of the main negotiation strategies.CORE CONTENT
