    The module offers a thematic and comparative introduction to governance practices in European countries and in the European Union (EU). It covers the development of democratic norms and political culture; constitutional and institutional resources of governance; political leadership; partisan governance and coalition politics; elections and electoral behaviour; and new governance challenges. These include the EU and multilevel governance; regime transition and legacy; representation and accountability in a digital age; and governance under austerity. (NB some topics may vary according to contemporary relevance and sources available.)
