  • Overview

    The module will introduce you to the major theories and research in the field of Forensic Psychology. You will develop a greater understanding of offending behaviour and the factors that may engender this type of behaviour in vulnerable individuals. It will explore how factors such as gender, ethnic background, education, socioeconomic status, adverse life events, mental health difficulties and substance misuse can predict or lead to offending behaviour. In this module you will benefit from the contribution of applied Practitioner Forensic Psychologists and Research Psychologists working in the field of Forensic Psychology, who draw on their expertise of working with offenders to illustrate and expand on some of the topics covered. You will develop a range of skills including reflective and critical thinking, and interpersonal sensitivity and cultural awareness around issues in Forensic Psychology. This module will contribute to your preparation towards a career in Forensic Psychology and postgraduate training in Forensic Psychology as well as related areas like Social Work or Policing.
