From James Bond to Jason Bourne, the spy has been a consistent feature of popular culture for decades. And in this module you'll study the roles of spies and intelligence in culture and politics over the past century.
Get behind the scenes of major historic and contemporary events to explore intelligence in democracies and dictatorships, the impact of technology, the relationship between spies, politicians and the media, and debate what is right or wrong in the spying game.

You'll examine recent events to determine if they have been considered intelligence failures, whilst delving into the relationship between spies and the government when incidents likes these occur.
