Overview
Court Society, and particularly the Court of Louis XIV, continues to be a point of reference in French political discourse in our own time. The objective is to understand this particular configuration of power and study the way it was represented and usually criticized by leading writers at the time.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
- Understand the politics of Court Society.
- Become familiar with the dynamics of its representation.
- Analyze the discursive strategies of writers critical of this configuration of power.
- Develop oral presentation skills in French for academic purposes.
- Consolidate essay writing skills in either English or French.Teaching & Learning Methods
