    The course surveys the development of opera from its origins through the Baroque, 19th and onto the early 20th century. Muscial examples from operas will be played and analyzed in class from the point of view of musical form, dramatic or poetic content and vocal technique. Students will also have the opportunity of attending live opera performances in Rome.
