Overview
This discipline will examine various theoretical approaches to systems of cultural representation in terms of their modelling, circulation, mediation processes, and reception from a comparative perspective. Special emphasis will be put on the representation of the Other as far as issues related to power, national identity, race, gender, enunciative positions, ethics and ideology are concerned within the framework of contemporary visual culture. The presentation and discussion of the various theories will be followed by the analysis of case studies.
