Based largely on self-directed study (supported by a lecture and tutorial programme), this module allows students
to investigate a particular contemporary social issue in depth. A list of suggested topics will be provided, but it is
possible to study other issues in negotiation with the tutor. For their selected topic, students will present key ideas
in three formats: a book review; a policy briefing; and a research review.
