Overview
The module examines a broad range of the most important political, social, economic and ideologicaldevelopments in European history from the Revolutions of 1848 until the end of the First World War. There isparticular emphasis on the major European powers: Germany, Russia , France , Italy and the Habsburg Empire.The module aims to provide students with a sound knowledge and understanding of the main trends anddevelopments in an important period of Modern European history, with particular reference to the majorpowers. It seeks to deepen history-specific skills already acquired and to help extend further a range oftransferable skills.
