Overview
The course aims to provide knowledge of core legal principles; laws and regulations; and case-law affectingthe practice of journalism and the media; and to sensitise intending journalists to legal issues potentiallyaffecting their work. By the end of the module, students should be able to demonstrate reasonableknowledge of core topics affecting journalism and the media, including: courts and the media, pre-trial andin-trial publicity, newsgathering issues, access to information, privacy, defamation, and intellectual property.Please note that this module is focused on the law and government of the UK and therefore may not beappropriate for many international students. Check with the adviser at your home university.
