The main goal of the course is that the student gains a better understanding of the normal and
abnormal pregnancy, delivery and puerperium, as well as the main pathologies in gynaecology
that affect women during their reproductive age and during postmenopause.
a. To know the physiological mechanisms of the pregnancy, delivery and puerperium
b. To know the different obstetric distocia and their nursing care.
c. To know and be involved in the nursing care of the gynaecological pathology during the
woman?s reproductive age and postmenopause.
d. To know the fundamentals of prevention in gynaecological health.
LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE BACHELOR'S DEGREE: Competencies
1. To be able, within the framework of nursing, to give technical and professional care to carers, of the correct needs of these persons in agreement with development of the scientific knowledge in each moment and with the levels of quality and safety that are established by the legal and the deontological norms which are applicable.
2. To plan and give nursing care directed towards persons, families or groups with the aim of improving health, evaluating its impact through guidelines of clinical practice which are described in the process by which a health problem is diagnosed, treated or taken care of.
3. To understand the interactive behaviour of the person regarding gender, group or community within a social and multicultural context.
4. To design caring systems directed towards persons, families or groups, evaluating the impact of such systems and establishing the appropriate modifications.
5. To base interventions in nursing on scientific evidence and on the available means.
6. To understand people without prejudices, taking into account their physical, psychological, and social aspects, as independent and autonomous individuals, ensuring respect for their opinions, beliefs or values, always guaranteeing their right to privacy through professional confidentiality and secrecy.
7. To promote and respect the right to participate in decision taking for the patients in agreement with the way in which they live their process of health ? disease.
8. To promote healthy life spans, to promote taking care of each person by themselves and support the maintenance of preventive and therapeutic measures.

9. To identify women?s characteristics at different stages of their reproductive cycle, menopause and alterations that may occur by giving nursing care at each stage.
10. To apply the general care during the process of maternity to facilitate the adaptation of women and neonates to new demands and to prevent complications.
11. To individualize the care taking into account the age, gender, cultural differences, ethnic groups, beliefs and values of each patient
LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE SUBJECT: COMPETENCIES
R-1 To be able to distinguish and appreciate changes
experienced by women at different stages of life; to be able to define the symptoms and apply specific care in main gynecological and obstetric pathologies.

In order to achieve the average rate, it will be mandatory to have a minimum of 50% qualification at the multiple?choice test. Mention of Distinction: one every 20 students provided they meet minimum achievement of 95% of the evaluated results.
To pass the subject will be mandatory:
? Have approved each of the theoretical and practical parts.
? Approval is considered a minimum rating of 5 out of 10.
? The value of the written assay will be 70%
? The written exam will consist of a multiple?choice question test, whith penalized failures
[A?(E/n?1)] . It will cover the contents of the program.
It will be carried out at the end of the course and it will last 1h.
? Participation and group work: Attendance and participation, discussions interventions,
resolution of clinical cases and questionnaires, individual and group exposures with appropriate
literature, etc. It will not be mandatory but will add up to a 30% to the final grade.
- For those students in an international exchange program, class attendance will not be required.
Clinical cases resolution or individual works may be made by the UCV computing platform.
- In each of the activities the correct use of language will be taken into consideration.
Misspellings, grammatical mistakes and ?SMS? abbreviations will be penalized with minus 0.1 of
the grade given to the exercise
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.
