  • Overview

    COURSE OBJECTIVE
    -Students will familiarise themselves with human movement throughout history and learn to see global history as a history of human mobility.

    -Students will acquire knowledge of key literature in the field, learn to apply the concepts and terminology used by historians and social scientists, and to use sources to reconstruct migration flows andexperiences.

    COURSE CONTENT
    The course begins with an introduction to key concepts and terms in migration history and migration studies, then moves on to histories of some major modern migration flows in different world regions.

    TEACHING METHODS
    The course will be a combination of lectures and discussion. Students should come prepared to discuss readings assigned for each class and answer questions on them. Questions will be posted on Blackboard. Some of the discussions will be in the form of group assignments where students will discuss questions in groups and then report back to the plenary.
