Overview
Computational Solution of Engineering Problems
In this course are presented the computer numerical representation, errors detection and control in computational Math, the data adjustment through the use of polynomials, the root solving for non linear equations using iterative methods, the number value calculations for an integer and the solution of ordinary differential equations through the approximation by difference. All the methods described above are applied for solving problems in different fields of engineering, using its computational implementation in Matlab.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Understand the computer arithmetic and the errors associated with their discrete nature.
- Understand and apply some methods of solving nonlinear equations in optimal finding problems.
- Understand and apply some methods of solving systems of linear equations.
- Understand and apply methods of interpolation functions.
- Understand and apply methods for estimating derivative and integral.
- Understand and apply methods to solve ordinary differential equations.
The course contributes to the professional component of Computer Science, but it also supports software engineering in problem solutions. It is justified on numerical analysis allows the engineer to obtain a solid formation in basic and applied sciences and these will allow him/her the acquisition of abilities in mathematical problems abstraction and analysis from the computational point of view.
