    COURSE SYNTHETIC DESCRIPTION
    The course will deal with the fundamental concepts in the international information systems and the different types of existing tools to be able to guarantee the reliability of the financial and accounting information of organizations


    JUSTIFICATION
    Given the globalization circumstances, international companies operate in those surroundings and their complex information systems must face big compatibility problems of programs and equipment, communication needs and the capacity to work with different accounting systems or currencies. Depending on the type of company and the type of technology used to develop their financial and accounting modeling. The different platforms and software to support the accounting process will be studied
     

    COURSE GENERAL OBJECTIVE
    Este curso se orientará
    This course will be oriented to form students that will be able to identify the information systems available for the management of their profession as well as the best practices that will allow them to guarantee data control and auditing.

    1. Fundamentals in IIS
    - Conceptualization in: Organizations; Data, Information and Information Systems.
    - Modern Relation Focus: Information Systems
    - Business Environment. Influence of Informatics and Communication Technology on the way to face and do business.
    - Potential and real added value. Assimilation as a key variable of strategies in organizations.
    - Demands and trends. 

    2. Information systems as tools and factors for generating competitive advantages
    - Contemporary challenges: business
    -systems integration; information as patrimony; integration between organizations; globalization.
    - Types of decisions and their relation with Information Systems 

    3. The different types of systems in organizations
    - To support decisions; for the administration of knowledge, the operation and control; transactional or applicative; for automation of offices; for the final user. 
    - The effect of information systems on the transformation of business and their administration.

    4. Information Systems and business processes
    - Ethical and social consequences of information systems
    - Moral dimensions. Privacy. Access and use of information rights. Social responsibility levels 

    5. Physical processing media
    - Characteristics; classification; Central Processing Unit (CPU).
    - Data entry units and supports. Units and supports of external storage
    - Information output units.
    - Basic concepts: Operative systems; Base Software; Programming Languages: characteristics; classification; evolution.
    - Applicative logical supports: of general and specific use.
    - New available tools.

    - basic concepts: domains; www; navigators; Potential effects and contributions in the business environment.
    - Analysis of main risks and opportunities.
    - Electronic business: e-commerce; e business; e-money; others.
    - Current and potential situation. Impact on the structure and processes of organizations
    - Management opportunities

    7. Data Administration
    - External storage in general: basic concepts; organization techniques; physical and logical aspects.
    - Data bases: basic concepts; classification; physical and logical aspects; main components.
    - Advantages and contributions to the needs of business processes.
    - Data bases on the web. Data management. Definition and consultation languages 

    8. Application and Implementation of Information Systems
    - Basic concepts and reach. The key value of this process. Implications.
    - Success failure factors. Analysis of the essential stages of the process; systems testing; different types; conversion process; 
    installation and testing of the technical infrastructure; users training.
    - Consequences of a deficient implementation - Process Planning and Implementation
    - Strategic control points. Relation of the implementation process with: accomplishment of objectives; efficacy and efficiency

    9. Information Systems and Administration of Knowledge
    - Contemporary focus: knowledge society; relation with the business world
    - Knowledge administration and productivity in organizations.
    - Facilities the Web environment can contribute (INTERNET; Intranet, Extranet). Artificial intelligence.
    - Systems general and analytic plans. Differences and similarities.
    - Follow up process and control tools
