    Course Description

Intrapreneurship (or corporate entrepreneurial spirit) is the practice of abilities and approaches of entrepreneurs within an established organization. Having into account that being an entrepreneur is a way of thinking, feeling and acting, this course will examine the challenges and opportunities that employees and organizations have to create and maintain a culture that fosters intrapreneurial efforts. Particularly, we will emphasize on family businesses, given the fact that they are a type of organization that due to its characteristics can repress an entrepreneurial culture that in the future can affect its development, competition and survival.

    Justification

Entrepreneurship is transversal to the different areas of life. You can be an entrepreneur acting on personal and community events, as well as creating your own company or business units in an established company; It is also possible to be an entrepreneur in areas as diverse as public policy or culture, among others.

Particularly, corporate entrepreneurs are individuals with an entrepreneurial vision, who manifest a conduct and guide their behavior towards development and the nternal entrepreneurial spirit within an organization. This allows them to generate and take advantage of innovative ideas and developing them as profitable business opportunities. As a fundamental characteristic, we identify a corporate entrepreneur as someone who commits their time and effort to research; create and mold ideas into business for their own benefit and the sustained growth of the firm, detecting successes where others see failures or problems; and whose strength is innovation with talent and creativity of goods and services.

Following this narrative, Universidad del Norte aims to develop and foster among its students the entrepreneurial skills necessaries to become intrapreneurs and to facilitate the processes that motivate human talent in their organizations, thus becoming a change agent.
