Overview
This module aims to develop knowledge of equine digestion, nutrition and feeding. It explores the anatomy and physiology of the equine digestive tract. It also covers the different types of ingredients of horse feeds and estimated nutrient requirements. The students will learn how to use laboratory methods for assessing nutritional status. This module also provides knowledge on how to prepare and recommend rations for horses and ponies, based on the physiological condition of the animal, in health and disease, and targeting the specific activities the animal will perform.
