    Course description:

    This course is offered due to an increasing interest from University students (not Music
    students) in deepening their musical knowledge. The course gives the tools to approach
    general musical languages, from popular to classical academic genres.

    Course objectives:
    This course offers in a general way, the basic elements of music as rhythm,
    harmony, melody and pitch. It also reaches some popular music genres.
    To awake listening sensibility as a tool to recognize the personal approach in
    relation with the context
    To recognize the basic elements of music in order to develop a better
    comprehension of music expressions and music enjoyment
    To recognize general characteristics of some popular genres

    Evaluation:

    30% Assessment. 3 quizzes, 10% each. Different subjects30%
    25% Mid - term 1. Written assessment.25% PRIMER PARCIAL.
    25% Mid - term 2. Oral presentation related to the instruments of the orchestra
    20% Final work. Written research work with an oral sustentation related to popular
    genres.
