  • Overview

    The overall objective of the module is to provide students with the language and sociocultural skills necessary to engage in academic and everyday activities in the course of their year abroad. It also aims to enable them to become autonomous learners in the partner institution, to increase language proficiency, to facilitate their use of different registers of language in written and oral production, and to gain an insight into sociocultural adaptation issues. 

    Learning Outcomes
    1. Reflect on sociocultural differences between Spain and Ireland
    2. Identify and assimilate different language registers according to the relevant sociocultural context
    3. Demonstrate the ability to conduct an effective interview with a native speaker
    4. Present researched information in an accurate and interesting manner in collaboration with peers
    5. Use audiovisual resources to create digital content, and master presentation and communicative skills
    6. Write clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects, synthesising and evaluating information and arguments from a number of sources
    7. Produce written material in support of or against a particular point of view in a logical and well organised manner and using appropriate vocabulary and correct grammatical structures
    8. Show and implement his/her language learning strategies, language awareness and degree of progression in the study of the Spanish language
